Pavin Smith Keeps Baseball U Streak Alive

For an amatuer organization to have a alum taken in the 1st Round of an MLB Draft is something special. Baseball U has already done something that has set the bar that is really incredible. The organization has had an alum taken in the 1st round th!e past 5 Major League Baseball Drafts. Think of the pool of players to choose from including Puerto Rico and Baseball U has had at least one taken the past 5 years. We say one because, during the past 5 MLB Drafts, seven alumni have been taken in the 1st round.

In all, over the past 9 MLB Drafts Baseball U has had 87 players selected in all.

Pavin Smith has now extended this streak to 6 straight MLB Drafts with an alum drafted.

Smith played  on a team that has already had 5 players drafted off their Jupiter WWBA World Championship team prior to this years MLB Draft and that number is sure to grow as we move along in the draft shows the talent level Baseball U brings down to this event each and every year.

"I compared him to another U Alum Colin Moran", said Wells. I told a scouting supervisor that this kid will be better than Moran when all is said and done as there was quite a bit of likeness in their swings back in 2013.

Over the past 3 seasons Smith has played at UVA where he help lead them to a College World Series.

One thing for sure is that Smith has a great future ahead of him with his easy swing and power that does not have many strikeouts in it.

The draft is always a special event to watch and listen to during the 3 days. I could'nt be happier for the players that are selected and gives us a sense of pride that we played a small part on their road to being drafted.
