Updates

The weather was a beautiful 72 degrees as Baseball U opened up their 2011 season with a 4-0 win over the Harford Land Sharks.

Three U pitchers combined for the shutout allowing only three hits. Junior Chris Liquori (Ramapo HS) was the winning pitcher allowing just 1 hit while striking out 3 batters. Dylan Scance (St Joes Montvale HS) pitched three innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 3 in relief of Liquori. Jesse Adams (St John’s Jesuit OH) closed out the game with 2 strike outs in 1 inning of relief.

Grant Van Orden (Don Bosco Prep) supplied plenty of defense at third base with several outstanding plays as did right fielder Alex Nickles (Ramapo HS).

In the first inning The U scored the only run they would need when Jesse Adams who doubled scored on an rbi single by Van Orden.

Adams added an insurance run in the 7^th when he tripled in Evan Noonan (Newtown HS CT) who had walked and stole second.
